Glimpses

Obviously I have been wearing lots of clothes. And most of my outfits have been really cute. However, I get out of class at 9 o'clock four nights a week, and am not always the prettiest. I have yet to master the mirror shot like dear Kellie, so until then I have to wait until I can get James to snap a few wardrobe changes in a spare moment.

I realize in one of my more recent posts that I wore this Forever 21 black skirt; I promise I do not wear it with the frequency at which it is posted. 

 I took a break from my busy life to catch Eisley, one of my favorite bands. I went with my darling friend Bekah and her husband David, and bumped into my friend Lauren there, too. The Eisely sisters are style icons to me, their outfits were adorable!! It was a great show, even if it was a Monday.

Two-for-One

Matt and I went on another long bike ride on Sunday, this time we headed north to Fernandina Beach. (The motorcycle picture was taken in Jacksonville beach, however, the far superior beach of the two.) We had some appetizers and a couple of beers while watching the Jaguars at a local bar, hung out near the water for a bit, and then had a couple of beers at a biker bar called Hammerhead. While all of the clientele were mine and Matt's seniors by at least a decade, it was a really cool group of folks to hang out with. The biker crowd may look rough, but they're some of the most genuine people you will ever meet.

Last weekend was our first taste of cooler temperatures, and I was excited to break out my favorite Forever 21 cropped jacket. The scarf was more for function than fashion, I learned on my first long-distance motorcycle ride about the effects of high speeds on dirty roads on my skin, so while we were riding I kept the scarf over my face to keep the dirt out of my pores. I'm sure I was a sight to see, riding around with a scarf over my face!

We catered UNF's Founder's Day lunch today, and my outfit started out as an intent to show my Osprey Spirit in blue and gray. After some playtime in my closet, however, I ended up in a floral dress with a gray cardigan. But there's still blue and gray in the mix, right?

Negligent

If I watered the plant on James' patio as much I've been posting, it would be dead. Oh wait, it's for that very reason there's a giant, crispy aloe plant out there right now. Do you know how hard it is to kill an aloe plant? Do you?!

So I've posted 3 of my favorite outfits I've worn recently. I've worn a few things that have been posted before, and other outfits have articles in various places (No, I'm not one of those girls, but I have a wardrobe at James' and one at my parents', where I still technically live. One reason the 30-for-30 was so difficult. I literally had all the pieces in a suitcase in my car at all times). 

I wore this to class today. Kellie gave me this cardigan, and I got a total of FIVE compliment on the cut, color and, in a very awkward exchange on UNF's shuttle, it's softness. 

This has to be one of the most comfortable shirts I own. It's also one of the only things I iron. Having 4 days of classes means I have to work a lot harder to not be repetitive, so it'll be fun to think of some other fun tops to pair with these shorts. And I was multi-tasking.

I threw this together at the last minute and I LOVE it! On the day I actually wore it, my hair was done, so it was much more girlie. This is my late grandfather's shirt and it makes me feel secure, like he's hugging me. It's too big, hence the figure-defining skirt. I've been doing to waist belt thing a lot; if anyone has ideas for cute, wider belts, please let me know. 

I say this every time, I admire people who can take the time every day to blog their marvelous outfits. You are my heroes.

Back to School!

Okay, so it took a couple days, but here are two of my outfits of my first week back to school. My knee has healed up enough so I can wear my various sandals (I was tripping over them before I had my gait back). I'm a little lucky, because I have evening classes, so the heat isn't a huge issue. 

Monday: 

I got this bag on a recent excursion to Marshall's with Kellie-- $25!! 

This burgundy Grecian-style from Target has never been one of my faves, but it was raining and my first outfit would have looked a hot mess. So I threw this on, wrapped a belt around myself, and wondered why I ever disliked it. Further validation occurred on campus, with three different compliments from nice people. The owl was a gift from my little brother's girlfriend, a souvenir from Spain. 

 Wednesday: 

My lack of exercise is starting to get to me; I put this together after hurling clothes around my room and then laying in the mess bemoaning my lack of exciting ensemble options. There are those days that you just feel blah, and this was one. I normally jog it out, but I had to let my wardrobe cheer me up. I nixed the polka-dot top and short outfit I had picked out and went with this flower print dress and gray cardigan. The colors definitely put a smile on my face. This bracelet is one that I have been working on for a while, and finally finished.

My camera seemed to think I wanted my picture taken in a watercolory texture this morning. It was horribly wrong, but I'm stuck with its poor decision anyway. *sigh*

Anyway, in case you wanted to know what I would look like as a painting, wonder no more.

The Dress as a Dress

I spent an hour last night getting two outfits together for work, but as soon as I opened my eyes this morning I knew that I didn't feel like wearing anything that required more than one article of clothing. That's where this dress -- worn last week as a blouse -- came in. Sometimes a dress and a necklace are all you need!
