Black and Blue

BCBGeneration necklace - TJ Maxx
top - TJ Maxx - (buy similar ONE and TWO)
cardigan - Maurices (buy similar ONE and TWO)
jeans - Gap (buy)
Mossimo flats - Target (buy similar)
nail polish - "A to Zurich" by OPI (buy)

Today was one of those sweater-on, sweater-off, sweater-back-on kind of days. Between cooler temperatures outside, and fluctuating temperatures inside at work, my cardigan had its work cut out for it.

EBEW: Monochromatic {21 of 30}

necklace - borrowed from a friend and never given back
Merona belt - Target
top - Maurices
skirt - Marshalls
Merona wedges - Target

I know I took the easy route by wearing all black for a monochromatic style challenge, but I was determined to wear items from my remix. And there was an attempt to wear a monochromatic outfit with other items in my remix, red and nude stripes were paired with red jeans, a chambray shirt was paired with blue ankle pants, and then darker chambray pants ... It was all a disaster. This was the least disaster-like outfit I could bring you.

If anyone asks I'll just tell them I'm mourning the end of my vacation.

Parents Meeting Parents {18 of 30}

BCBGeneration necklace - TJ Maxx (buy)
watch - Fossil (buy similar)
bracelet - JC Penney (buy similar)
Xhilaration top - Target (buy)
Saltworks Denim jeans - TJ Maxx (buy similar)
Mossimo flats - Target (buy)

Through pure coincidence, Matt's parents arrived in town to visit him before deployment shortly before my parents passed through town on their way home from a softball tournament. Not long after our families met, two of Matt's shipmates showed up. Needless to say, we had a full house for a minute.

I wasn't wearing this outfit when all of these things were happening, that happened later in the evening for dinner at one of our favorite local spots.

One Day More {13 of 30}

BCBGeneration necklace - TJ Maxx (buy)
watch - Fossil (buy similar)
blouse - Maurices
Mossimo pants - Target (buy)
Mossimo flats - Target (buy)

I had no desire to dress up for my last day of work before vacation, especially since it was also inventory day and I wanted to get things cleaned up and organized before leaving for two weeks. I'm so excited to be getting two weeks off, but the excitement is a little tarnished by the fact that at the end of my vacation, Matt leaves for deployment. *sigh*

Red and Wild, II {9 of 30}

Tarina Tarantino necklace - Its Eclectic (buy similar)
bracelet - JC Penney (buy similar)
Kirra tank - PacSun (buy similar)
cardigan - Maurices
pants - Gap (buy similar)
Merona - Target (buy)

I suppose this is the work-appropriate version of this outfit. Thursdays are inventory days for me at work, and inventory days usually turn into days to clean up after employees who don't put things away, so pants are always a good idea. What also would have been a good idea is a cami to go under this tank top. I realized after looking down at my chest that anyone taller than me would have had a bit of a, uh, view. Live and learn.

Natural {6 of 30}

necklace - It's Eclectic (buy similar)
bracelet - JC Penney (buy similar)
George cami - Walmart (buy similar)
Kirra tank - PacSun (buy similar)
Salt Denim jeans - TJ Maxx (buy similar)
Mossimo sandals - Target

During the more humid months I can't get away with not washing my hair every day. Since I'm already stressing my hair by washing it more frequently, I try not to flat iron it every day. I know it's silly, but on the mornings that I wake up with natural waves in my hair I get kind of excited. Not straightening my hair frees up almost a half hour of my morning, and it's nice to get a little bit of variety in my life. Add carefree waves to a fun animal print and bright jeans and I've got myself a youthful, happy outfit for summer!

EBEW: Colorblocking

necklace - gift (buy similar)
bracelet - JC Penney (buy similar)
George cami - Walmart (buy similar)
Mossimo dress - Target (buy)
jacket - Forever 21 (buy similar)
Mossimo flats - Target (buy)

Lessons I learned from my first outdoor photo shoot: The natural sunlight makes colors pop, but it also makes me squint. Also, photos need to be taken quickly because mosquitoes are a threat and sweating sets in almost immediately.

See more colorblocked outfits here.

Gator Bait

BCBGeneration necklace - TJ Maxx (buy)
belt - Target (buy similar)
bracelet - JC Penney
watch - Fossil (buy similar)
dress (as a shirt) - Urban Outfitters
pants - TJ Maxx
Mossimo flats - Target (buy)

Today is my annual Wear-Orange-and-Blue-to-Work-Because-I'm-Catering-Dinner-for-Seminole-Fans Day. I'm such a brat.

Last year only one person even noticed that I was wearing Gator colors, so we'll see how it goes this time!

Flashback Restyle: 8.16.11

beaded bracelet, knotted bracelet - Kellie Creates (buy, buy)
leather bracelet - gift from the parentals / earrings - Target / watch - Fossil / top - Loft
Mossimo capris - Target / Aerosoles wedges - TJ Maxx

I was really excited about this top when I bought it, but it ended up being really hard to style. There's not a huge range of things I can do with it, but I guess tucking it in and adding a camel belt and different shoes will do for a restyle!

Reserve

bracelet - JC Penney / watch - Fossil / tank - Express / cardigan - Forever 21
Salt Works jeans - TJ Maxx / Mossimo flats - Target

Just when I had resigned myself to not posting an outfit today because mother nature had taken away my natural lighting, I remembered that I had this outfit tucked away on my computer. I took it before voting ended for this month's Everybody Everywear, and as you can see, I really wanted the theme to be nautical. Maybe next time?

All Ease

necklaces - borrowed from Jess, made from other necklaces / bracelet - JC Penney (buy similar)
watch - Fossil (buy) / dress worn as a top - Express / pants - Zara / Mossimo flats - Target (buy)

Everything about this outfit was intended to look and feel effortless. Some days you just need an outfit that manages to be simple but still cute. I think this one fits the bill.

Bold

BCBG necklace - TJ Maxx (buy) / bracelets - Target (buy) / watch - Fossil (buy similar)
sweater - Old Navy (sold out) / Mossimo capris - Target (buy) / Merona wedges - Target (buy)

Outfits like this one make me realize how far my style has come. Just a year ago I would never have paired such a bright color with such a bold print, yet here I am. There will be no getting lost in the crowd for me, today!

Mix It Up

necklace - Stein Mart / bracelets - Target (buy similar) / watch - Fossil (buy similar)
Merona belt - Target (buy similar) / fingers - OPI's "Bastille My Heart" (buy)
Peppermint dress - Private Gallery / Merona wedges - Target (buy)

I haven't ventured into the world of pattern mixing since the last 30 for 30 when I mixed a floral tank and a striped cardigan, but I've been wanting to revisit the trend. What better way to ease into it than with a subtle animal print over my dress? Leopard print is a neutral anyway, right?

Lazy Leap Day

Charisma bracelet - Kellie Creates (buy)
toes - OPI's "Meet Me on the Star Ferry" (buy) / BCBG necklace - TJ Maxx (buy)
Mossimo chambray shirt - Target / BDG corduroy shorts - Urban Outfitters
Mossimo flats - Target (buy) / plush owl - Pier One (buy)

I think my boss might be up to something. Last week he gave me a Friday off, this week he gives me a Wednesday off ... Before I know it he's going to be cashing in a huge favor.

Today is the holy grail of days off. No errands to run, no company to entertain, and no pressing chores to get done. Although I don't plan on seeing anyone, I still like to put forth some effort in what I wear on a lazy day. I have a theory that a cute outfit -- even if it is a cute outfit that no one sees -- can be the difference between a lazy day spent feeling like a bum, or a lazy day spent feeling relaxed and at ease.

Excuse me, I'm off to make a dent in my Hulu queue.
