I tried some bizarre styling tactics with this dress before deciding to just wear it as a dress. One of the styling attempts that I made may appear as casual wear, but I definitely can't wear it to work. I already walk a pretty fine line between what's work-appropriate and what isn't, you should see the outfits that I decide aren't suitable!

Keepin' It Short

Next to me is a very tired Matt. He had duty from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m., then had to go straight to a class, then off to work on his ship. I'm thinking that the back turned to me is in protest of having the computer on in bed, so I'm going to keep this short. 

Day four of six in my work week: check.

The Perfection Problem

Not to get all deep on you or anything, but I realize more and more every day how much of a perfectionist I can be, and with that realization comes another realization that I can often be overbearing and controlling in my quest for perfection. Today, however, I realized that wanting to be perfect isn't necessarily a bad thing and that in some aspects of my life -- like my job -- I shouldn't be afraid to stand up for the work that I do. I don't want to go into too many details, but let's just say that I stepped out of my comfort zone and finally spoke up for myself. I have yet to see how it will pan out, but I wanted to share my realization, vague as it may be.

This is the first of six work outfits, I have a long week ahead of me! I picked out all of my outfits for the week after spending two hours in my closet Sunday night. Matt told me that after I had been in there a while he started to think that I had gotten tired and gone to sleep on the closet floor. The thought crossed my mind!

Priorities

I meant to have this outfit posted sooner -- say, Friday, the same day that I wore it -- but I was busy making these all weekend:

I've always had this thing with writing where an idea will come to me and I have to write it down right away before I lose it. Lately it feels like that artistic quirk has crossed over into my jewelry making. When an idea hits I feel an urge to execute it right away.

For the first time ever last week I wore every single outfit that I had picked out ahead of time. And by "every single outfit" I mean all three of them, since it was a short work week for me, but I'm still quite proud of myself. I'll be playing in my closet once I'm done here to hopefully pick out six outfits for my upcoming work week!

I don't want to go on for paragraphs about how lame I am lately, so I'll leave it at this: September has been a bit hectic -- partly due to fun things, like my birthday, and partly due to not-as-fun things, like work -- and as a result my posting has fallen off and my outfits have been less inspired. I'm hoping that after some recharging this past weekend that I can get back on track. When's the next remix, Kendi? I think I need it!
