That Day

beaded macrame bracelet - handmade (buy)
watch - Fossil (buy) / necklaces - Swarovski, It's Eclectic, and gifted / sweater - Maurices (buy similar)
Kirra tank - PacSun (buy similar) / Mossimo pants - Target (buy)
Aerosoles wedges - TJ Maxx (buy similar)

Girls, you know that day once a month (sometimes twice!) when you wake up, look at the pencil skirt you picked out the night before to wear to work, and think to yourself "absolutely no way" as you groan in discomfort? Today was that day for me. Tomorrow isn't look so good either, Thursday is inventory day for me, and skirts and dresses aren't conducive to crawling around on step ladders and moving boxes.

Maybe Friday will look better.

Two-for-One

Matt and I went on another long bike ride on Sunday, this time we headed north to Fernandina Beach. (The motorcycle picture was taken in Jacksonville beach, however, the far superior beach of the two.) We had some appetizers and a couple of beers while watching the Jaguars at a local bar, hung out near the water for a bit, and then had a couple of beers at a biker bar called Hammerhead. While all of the clientele were mine and Matt's seniors by at least a decade, it was a really cool group of folks to hang out with. The biker crowd may look rough, but they're some of the most genuine people you will ever meet.

Last weekend was our first taste of cooler temperatures, and I was excited to break out my favorite Forever 21 cropped jacket. The scarf was more for function than fashion, I learned on my first long-distance motorcycle ride about the effects of high speeds on dirty roads on my skin, so while we were riding I kept the scarf over my face to keep the dirt out of my pores. I'm sure I was a sight to see, riding around with a scarf over my face!

We catered UNF's Founder's Day lunch today, and my outfit started out as an intent to show my Osprey Spirit in blue and gray. After some playtime in my closet, however, I ended up in a floral dress with a gray cardigan. But there's still blue and gray in the mix, right?

The Perfection Problem

Not to get all deep on you or anything, but I realize more and more every day how much of a perfectionist I can be, and with that realization comes another realization that I can often be overbearing and controlling in my quest for perfection. Today, however, I realized that wanting to be perfect isn't necessarily a bad thing and that in some aspects of my life -- like my job -- I shouldn't be afraid to stand up for the work that I do. I don't want to go into too many details, but let's just say that I stepped out of my comfort zone and finally spoke up for myself. I have yet to see how it will pan out, but I wanted to share my realization, vague as it may be.

This is the first of six work outfits, I have a long week ahead of me! I picked out all of my outfits for the week after spending two hours in my closet Sunday night. Matt told me that after I had been in there a while he started to think that I had gotten tired and gone to sleep on the closet floor. The thought crossed my mind!

One More Day

freshwater pearl necklace - gift from the Phillipines (buy similar) / leaf necklace - borrowed from Jess
Guess button-down - TJ Maxx (buy similar) / Mossimo pants - Target (buy) / Merona wedges - Target (buy)

While UNF seemed to think fall began today -- they posted on Facebook about how excited they were that fall had begun -- the Fall Equinox doesn't actually occur until tomorrow. I realized this morning how perfect this shirt is for a fall ensemble, next year I'll retire it come summertime and reserve it just for the cooler temps.

Tomorrow, however, it finally arrives. Hopefully the comfortable temperatures aren't far behind!

Is it fall yet?

beaded necklaces - handmade (buy) / watch - Fossil (buy) / Xhilaration dress - Target (buy)
Mossimo cardigan - Target / bow belt - Wet Seal (buy similar) / Aerosoles wedges - TJ Maxx (buy similar)

I've decided to coax fall into existing by dressing the part. I spent some time playing in my closet last night, coming up with outfits to wear once the temperatures drop, and I can't wait to start layering!

My job sometimes presents me with unique photo opportunities. A year ago I got to climb into a Seabees Humvee, today I climbed aboard a Wells Fargo stage coach that was parked in our ballroom:

Never a dull moment in the world of catering! (That's a lie.)
